At work the other day some of us Moms were chatting about kids and their sleeping styles. What ages our kids started climbing out of their cribs..... When they got toddler beds, or big kids beds...... Did we ever let them sleep with us....
There were many different answers and a variety of get them in bed strategies discussed. At first I sorta kept quiet and just went along with the convo. I didn't wanna say, Oh yeah our kids sleep with us! Woohoo!
Selby was with us till........right before Jax came along. Many times she would go to sleep fine in her bed. And she got a pretty cottage toddle bed at about two years old. She liked it but wanted Me to sleep next to her on the floor...... Well a prego momma can't do that too well so thats how she ended up in with us many times.
Jax slept in his crib usually about half the night then he would wake up. The quickest way to get him back to sleep.....you guessed it, all we had to do was lay him down between us. And ya know what, on a tired late night thats just what this Momma does.
He naps in his bed sometimes and we can put him in his bed after he's fallen asleep. But many nights he wakes up and just wants in bed with Mommy and Daddy and likes to snuggle.
The truth is, every parent is going to have different rules and ideas about kids sleeping spots, habits, routines, etc.. Some may frown upon our method of, whatever wherever, but you know what I decided?
We're only human. We are going to make many mistakes as parents.
But the way I figure it, ANY time spent hugging, cuddling, snuggling, or loving on my kids is NEVER a mistake or time wasted.
